4.19.20

During the past month, I have had a lot of time on my hands to think and reflect on things. Since I am home now, and not at school, I seem to have a lot more time to do things for myself. Instead of doing things for myself, I decided to try and do things for others. One of the major things happening in our world is the virus pandemic. There are certain people who can be affected more than others. The elderly are people who can be greatly affected. I had an idea in order to help this situation. My grandparents are still alive and they are currently living in their home where they currently cannot leave. I could not imagine the sadness they must feel since they cannot come in close contact with any of their friends or family members. I decided to think of something that I could do for my grandparents to make their day and put a smile on their face. I decided to cook a homemade meal and deliver the meal to their front door. I cooked them pasta, garlic bread, and a nice salad. With the meal, I included a handwritten note and some flowers. After delivering the meal and flowers to my grandparents home, I waited in my car until they noticed. I waved to them from afar and it warmed my heart seeing the smile on their faces. I felt good after completing this task. It made me feel joy seeing my grandparents and showing them that I love them. It is nice to think and do things for others, especially in times like now in our world.

My Dogs …

When people ask me, “who are your best friends?” I respond with my dogs. People share a special bond with their pets and I am someone who shares a very special relationship with their pets. If I could describe my dogs using one word it would be “supportive.” Even though dogs can not talk, it seems like they can. An example of this is when I am having a bad day and I need to talk about how I am feeling. I lay down with my dogs and explain how I am feeling to them. I know that they can not give feedback, but their comfort makes me feel better about myself. My dogs show me so much love. They do this by kissing me, laying with me, and cuddling with me. My dogs are so lovable and make my home feel comforting. My dogs never talk back, they are always up for an adventure, they always give me the best greetings, and they are constantly there for me when I need them. Sometimes in life, I hold in my feelings. They tend to build up inside of me, which causes me to feel alone or sad. When I cannot let my feelings out, I go to my dogs. I talk to them about how I am feeling. They are great listeners. They support me with whatever I do. They both share a special bond with me. I am someone who makes sure my dogs are happy at all times. I believe if you care for your pets and show them love, they will always be happy.

My Roomie!

Going into college, I didn’t really think that I would make a lot of friends. I figured I would continue to hangout with the same people from my high school. This changed dramatically. When I was looking for roommates, I didn’t want to room with someone that I already knew. It took me awhile to find someone who shared the same interests and similar personality as me. I finally found and messaged a girl that had everything I was looking for in a roommate. My roommates name is Anna. She is from the same area I am from. We instantly connected with each other. Rooming with Anna has been great so far. We have a great, honest friendship. Even though we don’t spend time with each other 24/7, we still spend a big chunk of time with each other. Anna and I share a lot of the same interests. Some of our favorite things we like to do together are working out, showing videos/pictures of our dogs, shopping, and doing skin care routines. By spending time together, and doing the things we love helps our friendship grow and stay positive. Through Anna, I have met numerous people at school. It is nice to have Anna as my roommate and friend because I know she will always be there for me. She always makes sure I am included and feel part of things. She has shown me to step out of my comfort zone and be myself. I am so grateful and blessed to be able to room with someone that shares laughs and makes memories with. Even though Anna and I are not rooming with each other next year, our friendship will remain close and we will always be friends no matter what. I have made a lifelong friend who will always and continue to make me happy.
